Castro critica l'article de R. Olivar Bertrand publicat a la revista Arbor on critica les tesis de Castro i considera que els espanyols han existit sempre i que s'hauria de fer una història universal d'Espanya. Castro es mostra molt indignat i ofès amb Olivar Bertrand perquè tot i criticar-lo encara gosa demanar-li ajuda per treure'l de la situació acadèmica en què es troba al seu país
