Laguna escriu a Ferrater des de Maine i li explica les vacances que hi està passant. Li comenta el treball que la seva esposa Frederica hi està duent a terme sobre etnografia i també el fet que la revista "Philosophy of Science" podria publicar-li un article. Li explica que el seu llibre encara no ha trobat editor i que recentment la Johns Hopkins University Press li ha rebutjat publicar-lo. Acaba la carta fent-se ressò de l'incendi que va haver-hi a Taylor Hall i de la introducció que M. Nathanson ha escrit del llibre "The Death of a Nobody". Li comenta que està llegint el llibre de E. Nagel "The Structure of Science" i que el troba, tot i l'interès, mancat d'imaginació
