Castro reflexiona sobre els comentaris que Ferrater li ha fet del llibre España en su historia: moros, cristianos y judíos. Segons ell, el propòsit del llibre era veure les coincidències o no coincidències estructurals entre moros i cristians centrant-se en el concepte de vividora. Al seu parer, aquest concepte permet investigar allò específic en què consisteix ser francès o ser italià. Castro es pregunta si són suficients les nocions psicològiques fins ara argüides (la flema de l'anglès, etc.) i demana el criteri de Ferrater com a filòsof
